Mayor of Baltimore City

Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young is no stranger to the AFRAM festival. “I have been a part of AFRAM since its inception.” The festival officially started in 1976 as a part of Baltimore City’s Showcase of Nation, now in its 43rd year, AFRAM is an opportunity for everyone, in Baltimore City and the DMV area to come together and enjoy the areas greatest free music festival. Mayor Young believes that keeping Baltimore as AFRAM’s host city is significant for our diverse communities. “Baltimore is special, it is a place where people feel good about being from here. Despite the issues we face, Baltimore is filled with nice people who want to see the city grow,” said Mayor Young. As the city has grown so has AFRAM, Mayor Young has seen the festival evolve and is excited for what this year has to offer. “AFRAM is a way for all of us to come together…under a common cause to celebrate our heritage and to celebrate Baltimore”.

AFRAM is a way for all of us to come together…
